Minnesota Has 'Zero Tolerance' for Underage DWI
Minnesota's strict drunk driving laws exact serious penalties on any driver with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of greater than .08 percent. Additional penalties apply to underage drivers who are caught driving while intoxicated.
The state's "zero tolerance" law prohibits underage drivers from having even trace amounts of alcohol in their bodies when behind the wheel. Penalties increase depending on the minor driver's BAC.
Minnesota's "not a drop" law applies to persons older than age 18 but younger than age 21. Arrested individuals can face driver's license revocation for 30 days or longer, and a restricted license thereafter. Further charges may also apply.
Dakota County/Rice County Expungement Attorney - Clear Your Record
A citation or conviction for any criminal offense can follow you for years and be discovered during background checks by colleges, graduate schools, potential employers, and landlords.
It is important to discuss your situation with an experienced criminal defense lawyer before admitting any guilt or paying any tickets, citations or fines. Doing so equates to a conviction and can only be removed by a later expungement process, if applicable.
